Hope and Motivation
I always have a hard time explaining what my work is about. It shouldn't be that hard. My motivation is the way I feel about the state and direction of human affairs, a feeling that — while much of human life is getting better — a lot is getting worse in many serious ways. Don't you feel like we talk a lot about things that shouldn’t be happening yet it also feels like we cannot do anything about it?
The hope of publishing Hello Reality is to inspire readers to contribute to the collective awakening. There is a weird inertia in human culture that allows destructive patterns of behavior to become entrenched and develop into chronic ills that affect everyone. The operating belief is that we (humankind) should not have to sleepwalk towards catastrophic futures and that every conversation we can have to avoid future regrets can be meaningful.
The challenge is formidable. The problem is of such magnitude that if we want to make even the smallest dent on it, it would require mass collective conversation at every level of society. In a way, we are slowly moving in that direction... Have you noticed an uptick in the number of projects and publications working towards human flourishing? Take a good look around you and you will appreciate there is many people working towards the same goal in different ways.
May our voices become a chorus.
