"Mapping of continuous sensory perceptions onto discrete categories is where it all went wrong."
How do you create a numerical representation of a feeling? Can you represent an object of infinite dimensionality? Is it possible? There's mappings upon mappings upon mappings.
Can you train a dynamic into telling whether an interaction is based or cringe? Can you teach a dynamic to be skeptical for the right reasons? That is why it sometimes feels like jumping into the abyss, because we people don't operate by numerical certainties, we operate by feeling. Intentions are feelings, not a numerical caricature. Never a caricature, however responsive and nuanced. Beliefs are feelings too, not a mathematized certainty.
