Midtown Sidewalks Keep You Moving
Feeling like needing space

Walking on New York's Sixth Avenue you can notice that it is hard to stop walking. The streets here just keep you moving. If you stop, you're blocking someone else's walking. The corners are not designed to stop and appreciate the activity of the crossing nor its structures. There is hardly a breathing space on the streets, you have to look for it in a park or something.
The dynamic is reminiscent of the Vessel at Hudson Yards. When you climb it you realize that there's two types of landings, those where it is comfortable to stand and those where it is not comfortable to be. They make you feel like "you're in the way", even if no one's coming.
