There is Worship in Grace
-
What is worship about if not the graceful endurance of burden? Grace is unmerited assistance, it’s giving relief without having to give. Grace is meaningful, it comes in good faith to dignify and preserve dignity. There's a forgiveness in grace, forgiveness of a failure to deserve.
Endurance is a word we use to speak about athletes. But what do athletes endure? The burden of physical exertion, weighing every breath. The burden of practice, a ritual commitment. They put up with it, in the name of something higher… a meaningful endurance of burden.
You can’t help to see an element of self-sacrifice in graceful behaviors, a selflessness that brings you higher in the moment. Unsolicited self-sacrifice is a show of good faith of a highest kind. When you take burden with grace, it’s a worship. Burdens are taken in spirit of something higher.
