Why do we need a theory of modernity? You can compare people's relationship with modernity to their relationship with planet Earth... it's a home for humankind, not in space but in time. Modernity is not the twentieth century nor the twenty-first, it’s the now. A meaningful understanding of modernity is an ethical question, it's thinking about the 'state of things'... What is modernity ought to be? Can you agree with how things are and how they are happening? We're talking about this day and age, right now. Does modernity feel right?
