Logic and Process of Representation

Sense 1

• Representation is a human behavior whereby an artifact is created that embodies or resembles other things. Consider objects made in the likeness of animals, people, celestial phenomena.

• Representation is the betrayal of awareness of experience. By engaging in representation, you select aspects of your experience for transmutation into a different medium.

The Case of Re-mediation

• You could call it re-mediation, the transmutation of the essence of a medium or aspect of Reality onto another medium. By remediation you make a sense of the original medium available in a different medium.

The Case of Mimesis

• Mimesis is the reenactment in behavior of selected aspects of your experience. There’s a sense of replication, echo, or reverberation of the original onto surroundings.

Dialogue with Awareness

• If you can represent aspects of your experience in media, that betrays you possess awareness of your experience.
