The contemporary dancer tells the audience: "There's things I'm feeling that have to come out and will come out as dance — buckle up!"
Dance is the expression of feelings by means of body motion. Expressed feelings may find origin in the context in which expression is performed (consider music, environmental media, surrounding attitudes) as well as dancer's lived experience, recent or otherwise. Dance is the cooperation of affectivity, body, and music.
The magic of contemporary dance is that it’s eminently expressive. Dance happens not only as bodily rendition of music, but as rendition of the feelings contained and produced by it, meeting and blending the dancer's own feelings and expressive intent.
